Graduate students at TROY are eligible for several scholarship opportunities that help them afford degree programs. Read through the options below to learn more about available scholarship opportunities. The also provides information about available scholarships and deadlines.

Foundation Scholarships

Foundation Scholarships are generously donated to the University at various amounts with various requirements per the donors' discretion. Each applicant is allowed to apply for as many Foundation Scholarships as they would like, with the possibility of being awarded only one.

General Scholarships

Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to encourage students from outside of Alabama to pursue graduate work at Troy's Alabama campuses. Recipients must be 鈥渦nconditionally鈥� admitted to the graduate school. The scholarship will waive out-of-state tuition, but recipients must still pay at least the full rate of in-state tuition. Students must maintain a 3.10 cumulative grade (at the time of scholarship renewal) point average to continue to receive the scholarship and must enroll in a minimum of nine hours per semester or six hours per term. At any point a recipient is 鈥渟uspended鈥� from the graduate school, the scholarship if forfeited.

* This scholarship will provide the student up to $7,500 annually (two semesters, based on 9 credits enrolled per semester). *

Graduate Assistantships

These assistantships enable eligible graduate students to receive financial support in exchange for working twenty hours per week in an academic department.

  • Each student receives payments from their specific academic department, plus tuition assistance.
  • These Assistantships are extremely competitive and are awarded by departments throughout the University.
  • Students must complete a scholarship application in the Scholarship Portal and also an employment application

International Scholarships

OneTROY Transfer Scholarship

The ONETROY Transfer Scholarship

Applicants must have completed at least 24 hours of transferrable (non-technical, non-remedial) academic credit. Students must enroll in at least 6 hours each term to maintain eligibility.

  • Students with a 2.50 - 2.74 GPA are eligible for $1,000/ year for 2 years (8 terms). 
  • Students with a 2.75 - 2.99 GPA are eligible for $2,000/year for 2 years (8 terms). 
  • Students with a 3.00 - 3.49 GPA are eligible for $3,000/year for 2 years (8 terms). 
  • Students with a 3.50 + GPA are eligible for $4,000/year for 2 years (8 terms).

Eligibility Requirements
Actively Serving Military: 
  • Currently serving in the active or reserve component of the U.S. Military.
  • Service members using Military TA will not need to submit an application for the scholarship. They will need to submit their approved TA form to taforms@troy.edu. The Military TA form will serve as the scholarship application. Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide not to utilize their TA may request the scholarship by emailing taforms@troy.edu. The request should include a current LES (personal information redacted) or similar to verify their active-duty status, along with their student ID number, expected start date, military branch and military status. 
  • Must be an applicant to or enrolled at any 麻豆网站列表 location. 
  • Applicable for Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate or Doctoral degrees.
Spouses and Dependents:
  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Must complete Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form in the Scholarship Portal prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required each academic year not later than July, 31 to maintain scholarship. Download "Request for Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status" Form.
  • Must be an applicant to or enrolled at any 麻豆网站列表 location. 
  • Applicable for Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate or Doctoral degrees.
Award Details
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by 麻豆网站列表, VA Benefits (exception VA 1606/1607), or certain State benefits.
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
  • Scholarship can only be used toward one degree at each level (one associate's, one bachelor's degree, one master's degree and one doctorate).

Veterans and Families Scholarship

Through TROY's Partnership Program, the University is awarding 10-percent tuition scholarships and application fee waivers to all U.S. Military Veterans and their spouses and dependents in appreciation for their service.

To receive an application fee waiver, apply now and use promotional code TROY4VETS. Scholarship eligibility is verified by the applicant's Department of Defense form 214 (DD214).

External Scholarships

External scholarships are awarded by employers, companies, foundations, and professional associations independently of 麻豆网站列表. Criteria for external scholarships vary greatly from scholarship to scholarship, but generally include academic performance, financial need, personal or community affiliations, or other unique criteria important to the sponsoring organization.

There are several ways to search for external scholarships on the internet. Students should not have to pay for a scholarship search or to apply for a scholarship. However, "registration" with an email address may be required. Here are a few reputable search engines. 麻豆网站列表 does not endorse or certify the legitimact of any search engine listed.













Enrollment and Academic Verification

Occasionally, external scholarship donors require proof of enrollment prior to sending funds. If so, students should contact the Records office at troyrecords@troy.edu or visit  for information on requesting enrollment verification.

Enrollment/Degree Verification

External Scholarship Payment
External scholarship checks made payable to 麻豆网站列表 should be sent to the Financial Aid office.  

The recipient's full name as well as the recipient's student identification number should be provided with the external scholarship check. Please note delays associated with the mail services provider may impact when the check is received by our office. It may take up to 7 business days following receipt for funds to be credited to the student's billing account.
